I entirely agree about Takao. At the very least, he’s still going to school after his rainy morning skipping! I think sometimes it’s easier to go forward when the future is far away and not, well, now.

I haven’t seen any of Evangelion yet, unfortunately. I really need to watch more anime. I never watched it when I was younger and only started to appreciate it when I was about 16 or 17. I feel like I’m very behind! And it doesn’t help that I’m so busy with school. I’ve heard lots of good things about it, though, so it’s next on my list (besides other Shinkai films!)

Oh God, I love how he makes the mundane look in his films. He captures why I love photography so much in it. You can take something that looks so ordinary — raindrops on a windshield, the way a shadow or reflection looks, the shape of a window, a clothesline — and capture it in such a way that it’s completely beautiful and blows your mind. That’s how I feel watching his movies. I sometimes wonder if he actually goes to different mundane spots and records what he sees for inspiration. He’d make a wonderful photographer, I bet. I actually love the rain, as long as I’m not in it (Or at least well protected from it while in it). There’s nothing worse than wet feet and wet clothes. But when summer is finally over and it starts to rain, it’s my favorite.

Haha, I love talking about any kind of story-telling medium. It’s the reason I’m an English major (Well, actually, the reason was that I wanted to be a writer, but that’s sort of changed over time). There’s so much depth to stories that we often don’t even see.

For some reason, I didn’t find the ending to 5cm to be sad at all. Maybe I’m just a sadistic person, but it seemed completely appropriate to me that they never be together! The ending of Garden of Words definitely had more closure, though, and still felt appropriate all the same.

I was planning on that being my next one! I’ll definitely let you know!

One of the things I hate most about myself is the fact that I have no tact and I always just blurb things out that I haven’t really thought through. It makes me socially awkward, insensitive, come off as insincere or pretentious or selfish and especially annoying. Talking to shy people is the worst because I either come off as too outgoing and scare the shit out of them or I just sort of clam up awkwardly and don’t know what to say (Which is actually pretty much what happens any time I try to think before I speak). No one can ever tell I’m an English major by talking to me because I literally actively abuse grammar when I talk because, again, I can’t think before I speak and so I don’t catch anything (I also sometimes don’t think before I type, like right now, when I’m ranting). I’m always paranoid of hurting sensitive people. And it’s like, I really want to be friends with and supportive of my sensitive friends and acquaintances, but I just can’t because I always feel like I’m hurting them by being so tactless. I don’t mean to but I say things that just are really insensitive sometimes and I only realize after I say it.

What makes it the worst is that I know I come off as mean and insensitive and vapid to some people, and I honestly don’t have that kind of heart. I’ve spent years trying to think before I speak, but it always ends up causing me to act more awkward and be less happy overall. Not to mention that it’s so hard for me to do in practice.

This one dude at university who’s an acquaintance of mine once told me that I sometimes I sound saccharine or fake, actually, and it was incredibly eye opening for some reason, whether or not he’s right. I wish that people would tell me when I sound a certain way like that. This is why I love communication so much. I wish I could just know.

Anyway to anyone following me, I’m sorry if I’ve ever been insensitive to you or said anything that hurt you, I promise you I didn’t mean it unless you were being really genuinely awful and deserved to be told off (Hint: that’s none of you). :<

This has been a pointless ranty whiney complaint.
